Jesus said; “Go and tell what great things the Lord has done for you..” Mark 5:19
Around 4 years ago, a man who had spent the sum of his life, working hard, in line with his own plan for life, also playing hard, spending time and money on the so called pleasures of life. Alcohol, recreational drugs, fast cars and some faster women too.
This man wasn’t alone, he was surrounded by like minded people. Music and laughter filled his ears. Yes he was out there floating in the warm sun, bobbing about in the water, drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other, life was good!
Until he became ill and couldn’t work, he looked around for his like minded friends. They, like his money had gone. He was alone. The warm tranquil water that he had floated on was now a cold sea that took him further from the land. Where his cry could not be heard.
Time passed quickly as the waves became cruel, lashing against the man, slowly beating him into submission. He couldn’t hold on, there was no strength left against the relentless dark waves crashing against him. The next wave covered him like a dark murky blanket and spiraling down he went. With his last breath he called out to the Lord.
A strong and mighty hand forced through the heavy, thick, freezing water and plucked the defenseless man from the watery grave.
He awoke in a strange type of hospital. The doctors and nurses were people who comforted him and guided him over a space of time to full health, with love and care he had not known before. There was no rush.
This man is now recovered and follows his rescuer. He is now on his way to see his family to show them what has happened and to tell them all about his amazing Saviour.
This story is true. The man is me. The hospital was the Church. The Saviour is our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4, 6. “the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. But God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, shines in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
Now we are on our way to see my son and his family, to spend time with them , and they can see what God has done. Mark 5 :19“ Go and tell what great things the Lord has done for you.”
Amen
God Bless
