God’s Incidental Revelations – God-incidences

God incidental Revelations

Today I am just going to share a couple of thoughts or examples on some of the ways that God speaks to us through His word. The Spirit revealed word. This is not extensive or exhaustive. There are no limits, no boundaries, nor in many cases rational understanding or explanations. How, what, why He does many things and others may not even understand the intensity or the lasting effect this will have on us, but that’s the beauty too, we know that it’s just for us. It shakes us from our very core, our rational minds can’t comprehend how we can be so moved by a simplistic action. We may try to dismiss it temporarily, but we can’t and what we need to do is accept it, embrace it and if we don’t understand it now, maybe we will soon?

I have many related incidences leading up to before I became a Christian. I hear people say “Oh, have you found God?” Well not really, as He wasn’t missing. It was me that was lost! Yes, strange occurrences that I could not explain. One where a man on a tricycle weaved in giant semi circles with a whimsical noise playing and rode up to me and handed me something without stopping and off he went. He didn’t hand anybody else anything! It was a DVD that I put into my bag and went home. I later went to look at it and it wasn’t there, and I thought it was strange, and then later it was there! And it had on the outside, the very same verse of scripture that had been in and out of my mind all day that day!

Sometimes it can be just a number or a single word that occurs over and over again, on the side of buses, on cornflake packets, on the back of a newspaper that somebody is reading opposite you. Once I had been looking into the 3:16 number and with it being the most notable verse in the entire bible, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”, that I wondered what the other 3:16 verses in the Bible said. Specifically, in the New Testament. This is then where you start to find threads, now I know that the chapters and the verses aren’t in the original scriptures. They are a more modern separation attributed to Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury. They were put in the New Testament into Chapters in 1227 and it wasn’t until 1555 when Robert Estienne or Stephanus separated it then into verses. I was still taken aback this particular day that I hand-wrote them all out, all the 3:16 verses of the New Testament and was weighed down with the intensity of the doctrine;

3:16 God incidental Revelations

Matthew 3:16; “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting  on Him.”

Luke 3:16; John answered saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water, but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

1 Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwell in you?”

2 Corinthians 3:16 “Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord the veil is taken away.”

Galatians 3:16 “Now to Abraham and His Seed were the promises made. He does not say, ’And to seeds,’ as of many, but as of one, ‘And to your Seed,’ who is Christ.”

Philippians 3:16 “Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

‘God was manifest in the flesh,

Justified in the Spirit,

Seen by angels,

Preached among the Gentiles,

Believed on in the world,

Taken up in glory.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Hebrews 3:16 “For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?”

James 3:16 “For where envy and self- seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”

1 John 3:16 “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

There I found enough for a veritable feast, and after handwriting them all down, I went to the shop and my bill came to £3.16. I kept the receipt for ages, I think I still have it. It’s obviously not the receipt that is important. It is the incidences that are then clearly God-incidences that we can see God working and reminding us that He is in control, no matter how large, no matter how small!

Incidentally, I have just ordered some French Christian tracts and the postage on them is £12.34, 1234. It rolls as easy as ABC, the two next subjects I have been preparing about, ABC and John Wesley and Mark 12:34.! Just another example of God incidental Revelations in my life.

God Bless
