“I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me.”
Yesterday, we met a lovely couple from Wigan, Jonathon and Victoria. They are firefighters in a town not far from where I come from. They have a place here and regularly make the trip across in between work schedules to come and relax with their wonderful dogs. I had seen their van in the car park of the local supermarket a couple of weeks ago. It looked like a smaller version of mine. White van, roof rack, grey roof box fitted and a dog sat on the driver’s seat looking out! Just like Bertie does. Well, we had a long chat, I gave them a tract and my testimony. They are travelling back tomorrow, so I pray for a safe and pleasant journey for them and that the Lord protects them in their job as they bravely look to protect others from danger.
Well I thank the Lord for meeting them and I do hope our paths cross again. When we got home I started looking for the photo that I had taken a few weeks ago that shows the similarity of the vans. I thought it may prove to be something that I could use in a future post. I actually came across something that I genuinely thought that I had lost. The pictures that I had transferred from my phone to the laptop,. All 4,086 of them! Hallelujah!
Both me and Phil the editor of densjourney.uk had looked for them and thought they were gone. If I hadn’t have taken the photo of their van, or met them yesterday, I wouldn’t have looked in the right place. What I thought was a tiny file was actually this bulging file with all my photos of this year on! So I thank them and praise the Lord!
I now have 3 things that I would like to share that need your prayers. It may be that you are not in agreement, it is not my intention to debate or cause division;
Pray for the Homeless in Rochdale
This week has seen the introduction by the council in Rochdale of a ban in the town centre of homeless people from begging on the streets. There are a lot of negative and positive comments about this on social media. It pains me to listen or read the negativity and narrow mindedness of these people. This is not a problem unique to Rochdale. Homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness and sickness is seen in epidemic proportions throughout the UK. Prayers are needed for the hearts of the authorities and their callous supporters to be softened. There are many good Christian ministries that support the homeless, the poor, the needy, will you please pray for them too?
The Bible says in Proverbs 19:17;
“He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord.”
And in 22:9;
“He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.”
Pray for the Prisoners
There are epic amounts of people incarcerated around the world. The prisons in the UK are bulging again. Many of these people have no hope, they never had have. They are brought into the world, many are orphans, many are the sons and daughters of alcoholics and drug abusers. Some are generational, many of them only have an idea of what love is, because they know what it isn’t.
Will you spare a thought and a prayer for one such young boy who is only 15. His name is Cai, he is in prison, only a boy. Will you pray for him that the Lord will look after him and direct his steps? There are many good Christian ministries that support the incarcerated, will you please pray for them too?
In Matthew 25:37-40 we read the Masters own words;
“then the righteous will answer Him saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
Israel and the World
Yesterday the United Nations held a vote to condemn the United States of America’s decision to move their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The result is identified by this number: ‘A/ES-10/L 22’. The result was thus:
For = 128 Abstained = 35 Against = 9
Included in the 9 was the US and Israel. The UK voted to condemn! I do not wish to enter a debate about politics, I wish to draw your attention to what the Bible says about this;
“I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse those who curses you.” Genesis 12:3
I am a Bible believing Christian. That means that I believe what God says is true. The politicians of the UK have removed the Hand of the Blessing of God with His protection over the UK. As a UK citizen, I ask that you pray for the UK and its authorities that their hearts and minds are turned towards the Lord and not away. If I don’t believe the words of the Bible then I am not a Christian. If I attend a church that does not bless Israel, then I know that I am in the wrong building because that is what it is.
God Bless
Thanks Dennis I asked for prayer and support for Cai a vulnerable child damaged daily by neglect , abuse and poverty . God bless and save the poor and needy , the mentally afflicted and addicted, if we are not already praying for them on a daily basis AND helping in practical and emotional ways we need to factor compassion into our daily existence .
