Peace and goodwill unto all
Today we awoke early and we decided we would go out for a long walk later. One of the nearest neighbours stopped by with a gift of some leeks for us. Well maybe not Bertie. Strange gift some may think, but oh no it isn’t! It’s just what I didn’t get yesterday and we had just set off from the supermarket when I remembered and thought should I turn around and go back. I decided not to. Nice looking leeks too, home grown, quite looking forward to them.
Anyway, we went for a walk down to a place called ‘Les Gorges du Corong’. It’s a valley of woodland and river with an abundance of megalithic stones and boulders. We followed a track through giant pine forests. Some Christmas trees 50 ft high and 30 ft in circumference. Meandering tracks past vast areas of ferns. Their tall fronds now broken in half by the weight of the dew and the swirling wind. Their once proud vibrant green colour, gone for the winter, as the colours of rust grow darker and deeper.
Bertie had a good free run and I had a pleasant walk in the fresh air and freedom. I thank the Lord for the privilege. As it is Christmas Eve, I thought I would just share a few thoughts from some of the greats if I may;
“Once, in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.” C. S. Lewis
“Peace with God, peace with others, and peace in your own heart.” Rick Warren
“The very purpose of Christ’s coming into the world was that He might offer up His life as a sacrifice for the sins of man. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas.” Rev. Billy Graham
“Who can add to Christmas?
The perfect motive is that God so loved the world.
The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son.
The only requirement is to believe in Him.
The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.” Corrie ten Boom
I would like to leave you with one piece of scripture that is coincidentally on our reading plan for tomorrow (Isaiah 1-17), this is from Chapter 9:6, 7;
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
“Of the increase of His government and peace, there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgement and justice, from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
Peace and goodwill unto all. Have a blessed Christmas, much love, thank you, Jesus, we give You all the glory!
