The Healthiest Lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle is normally attributed to being on a diet. We watch what we eat and have to be inextricably linked with some form of fitness regime of punishing our bodies at our own expense by joining a gym or health club. Neither of these are necessarily pleasurable nor does anyone agree as everybody everywhere has a different opinion. Society in its present form has moved vastly away from what is important. We must accelerate at lightning speed. But what about the healthiest lifestyle ?
- Man was made to love and to be loved
- Man then made tools to use
In Genesis 1:26 we read;
‘Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.”
And in 1 John 4:8 we read;
“He who does not love, does not know God, for God is love.”
Therefore man was made in God’s image and God is love and in Deuteronomy 6:5 we find the First Great Commandment;
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
The second of the Ten Commandments tells us in Deuteronomy 5:6;
“You shall have no other gods before Me.”
So we are made in His image, and we are to love Him first. We are not to put other things before Him, sounds simple. That’s an outward motion of us giving love to Him first, but that doesn’t imply that we love Him first because the scripture says in 1 John 4:19;
“We love Him because He first loved us.”
So, when we look to what we take in to our body rather, we look to 1 Corinthians, and there are two scriptures that I have in mind, both are similar;
3:16 “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
So if your body is the temple of God, is that not sufficient reason to look after it? Everything that is around us, everything that you or I own is created by the Creator. Nothing that anyone has will they be able to take with them, whether before or after their three score years and ten dependent on when the Lord decides. The bible says in 1 Timothy 6:7;
“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
People across the world today are loving the things of the world. The creations and not the Creator. They may not see the danger but everything that goes into a person distracts them from the love of God. Whether it is the sugary doughnuts and the Americano frappe latte that they must have every morning or the nicotine sticks of Virginia that are the devils sweets. Everything that we put into our bodies or against!
The bible says in 1 John 2:15;
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
Man ignores the Creator for the things of this world.
- Man was meant to be loved
- Tools were meant to be used
- Man is being used
- Tools are being loved
God gave us everything we need for a healthy lifestyle. He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
He gave us dominion over the fish and the cattle and every green herb given for food. We have no need to lead unhealthy lives. If it grew in or out of the ground, whether from under it, or from plant or tree, then eat it. If it is edible of course. Anything that is made by man, whether it comes in a tin, a box or plastic packaging, ask yourself, does God want me to put this in my God given body?
In 1 Corinthians 10:31 we read;
Therefore, whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” Amen.
The Healthiest Lifestyle is; Love God first, love your neighbour as yourself, look after the temple that God gave you.
p.s. the picture of the chopped stuff in the glass is about 4 carrots, 1 apple, 1 tangerine, ½ juice of lemon and 2 cloves of garlic, and it was tremendous. x
God bless
These words are so true, and so hard to implement at times Den…
Thank God he sees all our struggles in life and still loves us hey!
Having said that, we need to endure in him even when we feel selfish, and worldly….
He is the light in our darkness.
Be blessed ..
Wise words my friend.
At times I am in a quandry about where I am In Christ, and I only feel the safety in the reassurance that He knows exactly where I am, that He knows with pinpoint accuracy where we all are.
Praise the Lord.
Bless you my friend
Sorry for late response.
